Get to know your Doula
Hey mamas, I’m Ally. I am wife, mama of three & a registered nurse, specializing in homebirth and in-home postpartum care. I value family over everything. I’ve had a passion of caring for others since I was young. My empathetic and nurturing tendencies are the foundation of my home and work life. Transitioning into my role as a doula not only felt natural, but life changing. Supporting moms during such a vulnerable and transformative time is where I have found bliss.
How my motherhood journey drove my passion to support mamas as a Postpartum Doula
In motherhood I have found a great sense of purpose. Starting a family was something I always envisioned. I felt confident in my maternal instincts, even as a little girl. Babies were my thing. During my pregnancies, I prepared my body - both physically and mentally, as I desired an unmedicated home birth. I educated myself on various topics related to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As a nurse, I attended births and supported moms through their transition into motherhood. I provided lactation support, supported both the mental and physical healing process, validated feelings related to birth, recovery, breastfeeding, and listened to their worries and concerns. Because of my experience, I thought postpartum would flow more easily.
Although my birth and postpartum experience with my first born was an empowering experience, I was still faced with challenges many mother struggle with. Challenges with breastfeeding caused anxiety about feedings. Latch issues, newborn oral restrictions, pain at every feeding, and worries whether my baby was getting enough weighed heavy on my mind. It left me questioning my own intuition and doubting my body’s natural ability to nourish and care for my baby. How could something so natural be so complex?
I knew I needed to get out of myself and lean on those around me. Seeking support, asking for help from an IBCLC, and allowing my family to be there for me so I could heal, made those early weeks easier. The care and support that my family provided for my husband and I made all the difference. They showed up for us in ways I didn’t know I needed. They tended to our home and nourished us so we could bond with our sweet newborn. I learned quickly that all of my preparation was only a component of having a positive postpartum experience. My village helped shape me as a mother. I aspire to expand my village and form these connections with mothers within my community so they too can feel supported, valued, and empowered.
“Ally was so wonderful during my early postpartum days. Having her present in my life made that time right after birth a much smoother transition and solidified my nursing journey.”

Education and Qualifications
I embarked on my nursing career at MWCC, obtaining a licensed practical nursing degree (LPN), then bridging into a program where I received my associates degree in nursing (ADN). I continued my education and graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst with my bachelors of science in nursing (BSN) degree. I’ve explored various specialties over my nursing career: Medsurg/cardiac, L&D/postpartum, urgent care, and currently as a home birth nurse and in-home postpartum nurse. Throughout my education, I had nannied for families with young babies, all under the age of one. I have assisted families members over the past 10 years doing “doula” work without realizing that was a title. My work experience deepens my connections to serve mothers, especially within the sacred 40 days following birth. Cultivating positive, impactful, and empowering interactions with women in their most vulnerable season of motherhood motivates me to continue growing my role as a birth worker.
